HOW DO I GET STARTED?

Upon receiving your GoFish Cam, make sure to read the manual and register your camera on the mobile fishing application. Instructions are easy and are available at gofishcam.com/instructions

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE LINE BREAKS?

When properly rigged, you’ll get your camera back even if the line breaks. The key is to make sure the line breaks below the camera.GoFish Cam is connected between your casting line and your leader line. Tie the camera between a heavier main line and a lighter leader line. The main line should be at least twice the weight of the leader line to make sure the leader line snaps first.

We do understand that the concern is still there, and that's why we also offer a 1-year camera loss protection program: gofishcam.com/cameraloss

DOES THE CAMERA FLOAT?

No. The camera is designed to have a slight-negative buoyancy so as not to impede the movement of your lure. It does not float and has a slow sink rate when placed in water by itself. It's designed to follow the lead of whatever lure you are using. The camera does comes with a bobber accessory, which comes free with each GoFish Cam.

CAN YOU WATCH IT LIVE?

Yes and no. When the camera is underwater it will be recording only. Once retrieved, you can download the footage to your mobile device upon exiting the surface of the water. It will ONLY live feed when used in conjunction with the included bobber accessory that keeps it above water. This allows the sensor to be out of the water and will live feed between 20-30ft away from you.

HOW BIG IS THE CAMERA?

The camera is 4 inches long by 1 inch in diameter and is purposefully designed to be small enough for casting and most fishing types.

HOW HEAVY IS THE CAMERA?

The camera weighs 3.3 oz. In the water, built-in air pockets cut that weight in half to minimize the camera’s effect on the lure.

WHAT FISHING STYLES CAN THE CAMERA BE USED FOR?

The camera is applicable for four different fishing styles; Trolling, Casting, Float, and Bottom Fishing

Trolling is the most popular style the GoFish Cam is used for. In this style of fishing, there exists the most tension, as there is always drag. The drag keeps the camera extremely steady and will allow exceptional quality footage.

Casting is another popular style the GoFish Cam is used for. In this style of fishing, there may be some shaky footage, however, as long as you’re reeling, the camera will be kept steady. Heavier lures for casting work better than lighter ones. For casting, we recommend using a heavier line, and side-casting to not have the line break during your casts.

The GoFish Cam can also be used for bottom fishing. In this style of fishing, make sure the weight is attached prior to the camera’s connection to the line. This way, the camera will be facing the hook and not the weight or make sure the camera is above the bait on the line if you're attaching the weight at the very end.

For float fishing, the GoFish Cam comes with a free accessory that turns your GoFish Cam into a float/bobber. With this accessory you can live stream a bird's eye view direct to your phone using the GoFish Cam mobile fishing app!

DOES IT HAVE A WARRANTY?

Yes, all units are covered for 1 year on electronics, battery, and leaking. Salt or freshwater.

WHAT'S THE MEMORY OF THE CAMERA?

The camera does not have an internal memory. Customers will need to put in a micro SD card up to 64gb (not included with cam).

DO I HAVE TO USE MY PHONE?

No. You can also plug the camera into a computer like a regular digital camera to review footage or use a microSD card reader.

HOW DOES THE CAMERA RECORD?

Camera records constantly but separates footage into 1 min clips for easy download.. (can be changed in app to 3,5,10 minutes or continuous recording).

WILL IT WORK IN MURKY OR DARK WATER?

Yes. Camera is equipped with optional LED green light. Shorten the leader length for less water clarity to make sure the lure is still visible. (1 ft minimum)

DO YOU HAVE TO REPLACE BATTERIES? HOW LONG DOES THE BATTERY LAST?

Camera is rechargeable via micro USB. It contains 2 internal lithium-ion batteries. At max resolution (1080p@60fps) a full charge allows up to 1.5 hours record time. Resolution can be lowered on the camera to 1080p@30fps or 720p@60fps which can allow about 2 hours.

DOES THE CAMERA SCARE FISH AWAY?

Not at all. In fact, read on below to see how GoFish Cam helps you attract fish. In fact, many of our customers have submitted videos of predatory fish taking bites at the camera!

HOW DO I ATTACH THE GOFISH CAM TO MY LINE?

The GoFish Cam is very easy to attach to a fishing line. There are two ends to the camera. The back end will be attached to the casting line and the front end to your leader line. You can either tie the lines straight to the camera or tie your line to a snap/swivel and use the snap to connect to the camera.

WHAT KIND OF FISHING LINE SHOULD I USE?

We recommend using a heavy braided test line and a less heavy monofilament leader line. When using the camera for cast & retrieve, we recommend using higher than 30 lbs test line and also recommend side casting versus overhead casting.

HOW LONG SHOULD THE LEADER LINE BE?

It depends on the type of fishing you are doing, the lighting, and the clarity of water. The leader line should be between 2-6 feet long.

HOW DO YOU STOP THE CAMERA FROM SPINNING?

The camera is built with stabilization fins. The fins work best when there is tension or drag from both ends of the camera. As long as you’re trolling, reeling in, or battling a fish, you’ll find there is no spinning. The more action, the more stable! The use of swivels and snaps to attach the camera to the line will also make for more stable footage. Additionally, depending how fast you are trolling or retrieving, adding some weight to the main line about a foot in front of the camera will create more stable retrieval.

HOW DOES THE WIFI WORK?

The GoFish Cam emits its own WiFi signal. The camera works similar to how your house’s WiFi does; when you leave the range of your house, your phone disconnects, and once your phone comes back into range, it reconnects. When the camera comes back into range of your phone, it picks up on the WiFi signal and reconnects. This allows you to review all the footage on your GoFish Cam via the fishing app on your mobile device. The Wifi will disconnect while underwater. If you are cast and retrieving, it will auto connect every time you reel in. If you're keeping the camera underwater longer, it will stop "searching" after 5 minutes. To reconnect then, you'd have to open the camera and press the WiFi button again.

HOW FAR DOES THE WIFI GO?

The WiFi when in float mode works up to 30 feet.
Current wireless technology for WiFi does not allow it to go underwater as the water disrupts the signal. We are working closely with researchers and different studies to make sure that when WiFi has underwater capabilities, the GoFish Cam will too!

Every user gets a free accessory with their GoFish Cam that turns the camera into a float/bobber. When using this accessory properly, you'll be able to live-stream a bird's eye view. Learn more at gofishcam.com/pages/live-stream.

HOW DEEP CAN GOFISH CAM GO?

Unit is warrantied up to 500 feet, but we have tested units up to 2000 feet with no issues.

DOES THE CAMERA RECORD SOUND?

Yes! The GoFish Cam has a built-in microphone to make sure that the entire experience is captured underwater. The housing is very heavy to give the GoFish Cam its needed durability and depth. The sound is not great quality, but it's there.

CAN I RECORD IN THE DARK?

Yes! GoFish Cam has been designed with a green light emitting diode (LED) ring around the camera lens to capture your image in the darkest of water and for night fishing. It gives about 6 feet distance.

The light serves a dual purpose:

      1. Adding light to the water improves video quality in low-light conditions

      2. The LED acts as a fish attractant. Studies have shown that green light attracts certain species of fish.

WHAT COMES WITH THE CAMERA?

The camera comes with a free bobber accessory, charging cable, carrying pouch, and GoFish Cam sticker. NO MICROSD CARD IS INCLUDED.

CAN I SEE MY VIDEOS ON MY PHONE?

Absolutely! GoFish Cam has developed a mobile application to work with your Smartphone. It works alongside the camera wirelessly. We encourage users to view, edit, log data, and share footage.

WHERE CAN I SHARE MY VIDEOS?

GoFish Cam’s mobile fishing application will allow users to download videos to your phone to then share through most major social media channels – Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube.

CAN I CONNECT THE CAMERA TO THE APP EVEN WHEN I HAVE NO WIFI or Cellular Network?

Absolutely! Prior to using the GoFish Cam, you will want to register it to your profile on the mobile application. Once registered, even if you have no network or wifi connection, you can still connect to the GoFish Cam. When out on the water, or in an area with no service, turn on the GoFish Cam, turn on WiFi. On your mobile device, go to WiFi settings, find the GoFish Cam WiFi and connect.

Now, when you open the app, it will not log you in and bring you to the community page as usual. Instead, since there's no network connection, you’ll see a popup that will tell you there's no network connection and allow you to still connect to one of your registered GoFish Cams. Tap "Connect to Camera" and you'll still be able to control the camera from the app, review footage, edit, and save to your phone.
